Greek lessons for all levels

Α1, Α2, Β1, Β2, C1, C2

Our aim is to teach you Greek as a foreign language and if you wish to prepare for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek.

Seminars:

  • The seminars are held once a week for two hours and last 30 weeks spead over 3 cycles between end of September until end of June.
  • We meet once a week for 2 hours between 19.30-21.30.
  • After your registration, you will have full access to our material which is designed according to the Centre of the Greek Language: https://www.greek-language.gr/certification/node/94.html
  • Before your registration there will be a short test to decide which level will be suitable for you.
  • The groups are between 3-8 students.
  • You will be taught all four levels of the language: Reading and Writing, Listening and Speaking

Courses/ levels:

Α1

The student starts to read and write in Greek, learns to use a basic vocabulary and expressions to communicate in a very basic level such as: talking about oneself, jobs, health, in the market, countries and nationalities, etc. Become familiar with basic grammar: nouns, adjectives, present tense, some verbs in the past, some verbs in the future, subjunctive, personal pronouns.

Α2

Α1 level is required

The student is able to use a basic vocabulary and a basic grammar to communicate more naturally, to make a dialogue about his/her family, home, neighbourhood, profession, education with the use of more tenses in the past, present and future.

Β1

Α2 level is required

The students will be able to familiarise with different passages and dialogues from the press and literature, from songs and poetry that include topics from everyday life, culture and tradition, summer holidays and travelling, mediterranean diet, technology, sports, etc. They learn the imperfect, the past and the future continuous, the simple and the continuous subjunctive and imperative.

Β2

B1 level is required

The students learn to talk in a more complex Greek language using a lot of idioms, expressions, and they enhance their vocabulary. The are able to to read the news, watch films and videos and make conversations about broad subjects from the past to currect affairs. The aim is to complete the grammar: use of active and passive voice, all tenses, subjunctive, imerative, direct speech, conditionals, etc.

C1

B2 level is required

Conversations and presentations in a variety of topics included in the news and blogs. Forming a book club. Some special grammar rules and different dialects. Distinguish between Katharevousa and modern language.

C2

C1 level is required

The students study a variety of topics from literature, poetry, non fiction books, articles, blogs, films, history, etc. Explores different dialects, derivatives, roots of the words and is able to speak as a native speaker.
